Technique

All of the images are printed digitally using pigmented inks and archival papers. Although the images are processed in Photoshop, the techniques applied are the same as one would find in a traditional darkroom; that is, burning, dodging, toning, and some cropping. The Deja Vu series also includes some diffusion to help simplify the images. The advantages of the digital/pigmented ink print over the silver gelatin print, for example, are that it allows for greater shadow detail and more precise control when burning and dodging the print.

There are many process that may be used to make photographic images, each with their own unique qualities. I find that the pigmented ink print allows me to better explore the photographic medium than other, more traditional methods. However, each has it's own place in photography.

Purchase

With the exception of the images made in schools, all other images are for sale and are available in two approximate sizes ranging from 6 x 9 inch prints (matted 11x14 and $250) and 9 x14 inch prints (matted 16x20 and $350). Although my personal preference is for smaller images because of their intimate feel and look, most images may be printed to larger sizes up to 16x24 inches, upon request.

All images are matted with a window/overlay 4 ply archival mat board and backed with a 2 ply archival mat board. The mats are hinged and images are attached with corner mounts.
